About the BNTRC
The British Neurosurgical Trainee Research Collaborative (BNTRC) is an initiative of the British Neurosurgical Trainee Association (BNTA) with the aim of conducting high-quality neurosurgical research and ultimately improve outcomes for neurosurgical patients. We are supported by the Society of British Neurological Surgeons (SBNS), UK Neurosurgical Research Network (UKNSRN) and the Royal College of Surgeons of England (RCS).
The BNTRC is open to all junior neurosurgical trainees & staff interested in conducting high-quality multi-centre research. Follow our social media accounts for regular updates @bntrc.
Project Model
Each BNTRC project is run in a bespoke way, but broadly follow the following structure:
-
Study leads: Trainees responsible for the overall management of the study
-
Study steering group: Small group of trainees and consultants who help the study leads develop the protocol, set up the study, analyse data and help with manuscript preparation
-
Contributors: Each centre that participates in the study has a trainee and consultant lead, responsible for local data collection. There may be additional contributors, including other trainees and medical students at each centre
The key to the success of the model is that all contributors will be acknowledged as collaborators in publications arising from that project, under the name of the BNTRC!
